Courtney Marie Andrews’ folk satellite fills VEGA with beautiful sounds

Courtney Marie Andrews’ beautiful, distinctive voice has taken her to the very top of the American songwriter scene. Now this eminent musician is back with a new handful of empathic songs.

Grammy-nominated Andrews releases her new album Loose Future on 7 October, and recently released the first single “Satellite”. This track shows new sides of her talent, with airy guitars and vocal arrangements, followed by heavy synth and a spherical slide guitar. She has this to say about the track:

“I’ve written a lot of love songs, where there’s always a hint of heartbreak, but ‘Satellite’ is a love song without reservation. I wanted to look ahead and fall in love with someone’s mystery. Let love come in without asking questions or looking for ways it might harm me. Sonically, I wanted to go into space. This kind of love is not earthbound.”

She made her breakthrough as a songwriter with the LP “Honest Life” (2016), which was written with a longing for the simple life, compassion and nature. The songs evoked the genuine and intimate, with an alluring sound that pays tribute to the legacy of the musical mecca of Laurel Canyon and names such as Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Roseanne Cash and Leonard Cohen.
